The congo or Panamanian conga culture is the result of the syncretism between components of different African origin and contributions of the Spanish colonizer, reworked according to the needs of survival and organization for the resistance of the slaves. Added to this the imaginary of the maroons, slaves who escaped from the plantations and settled in the mountains in the so-called palenques.
